Mob-linked businessman 'strangled, dissolved in acid in 2002'

- Palermo, March 19 - Italian police on Wednesday said they had
cracked a 12-year-old Mafia murder thanks to new information from
informants. Mafia-linked
Sicilian businessman Andrea Cottone disappeared in November 2002 at
Villabate near Palermo.
The informants named three members of a rival Cosa Nostra clan, two of them detained since 2005, who allegedly strangled him and dissolved his body in acid.
Police said then boss of bosses Bernardo Provenzano OK'd the hit after the killers' clan was decapitated by police.
