Pizza king crowned in Italy

Winning pie topped with four cheeses, eggplant, anchovies

(ANSA) - Bologna, April 10 - There's a new pizza king in Italy. Giulio Scialpi, from the Barsentum pizzeria in the southern town of Putignano, won the 23rd annual world pizza championships sponsored by Pizza e Pasta Italiana magazine in Bologna on Thursday. His winning 'Contadina' pie consisted of four kinds of cheese - mozzarella, burrata, caciocavallo and stracciatella - topped with eggplant, breadcrumbs and anchovies. Scialpi beat out 600 contestants from more than 30 countries.
