- Bologna, April 10 - Italian philosopher and writer Umberto Eco
advocated education as a way of relieving suffering during a lecture
on Thursday. "Culture raises the threshold of suffering, but not
for unbearable pain," Eco told graduates in palliative care at
Bologna university. "For suffering not caused by terminal
illness, education may be encouraged," he said.
