VAT: Up 7.6% on domestic trade, Taxes: 61.78 bn euros levied

- Rome, April 7 - Italy's VAT take rose 4.6% in January and February
over the same period last year, the economy ministry said Monday.
VAT revenue on domestic trade was up 7.6% and down 8.2% on exports, it said. Higher VAT proceeds indicate greater economic activity.
Italian
tax revenues were 1.2% higher in January and February than the same
period in 2013, the economy ministry said Monday. Revenues were 735
million euros higher at 61.784 billion euros, it said.
Italy is slowly emerging from its longest postwar recession.
