Brussels, March 17 - The rise in the rate of inflation in Europe slowed in
February, said Eurostat. There was a 0.7 percent rise in the eurozone, compared
to 0.8 percent in January and 1.8 percent in February last year. The increase
in the EU was 0.8 percent, compared to 0.9 percent in the previous month and 2
percent in February last year. The rise in Europe was due to increases in the
price of tobacco, electricity and in restaurants. These were offset by falls in
the price of transport fuel, telcommunications and liquid fuel.
