Some 1,000 callers linked to underage hooker ring in Rome

Husband of MP Mussolini among suspects

(ANSA) - Rome, March 20 - An ongoing investigation into an underage hooker ring has unearthed one thousand telephone contacts between the young girls and their possible clients, investigators said Thursday. The telephone and text data in question is currently being examined as part of the probe.

The case made headlines in October when five men were arrested on suspicion of paying two underage prostitutes who studied together at the same high school in Rome.

Among those who have already emerged as alleged clients is Mauro Floriani, the husband of right-wing Italian MP Alessandra Mussolini. Floriani, a former finance police officer, is currently a manager at publicly owned train operator Trenitalia. He has three children with his wife, who is the granddaughter of Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. He was placed under investigation when his name showed up on the cell phones of the two hookers, aged 14 and 15.

The pair was working out of an apartment in an upscale Rome neighbourhood, police sources say.
