- Verona, March 25 - A northern Italian land artist has ploughed a
gigantic Statue of Liberty with a cross added to its crown in honour
of Thursday's historic meeting between Pope Francis and United States
President Barack Obama.
Dario Gambarin said his work, carved into a 35,000-metre-square field near Verona, "has a sad and ironic face which underscores the historic moment we are going through, and it carries the cross of persistent poverty".
