Italian eyewear giant to help in wearable computer design

- Rome, March 25 - Italian luxury eyewear company Luxottica chief
Andrea Guerra on Tuesday expressed his satisfaction at a partnership
deal reached with Google for the development of the innovative
wearable computer project GoogleGlass. "It is an incredible
example of the period we are in and which until only a few years ago
was unthinkable even for me," Guerra told La Repubblica
newspaper of the agreement to create a team of experts devoted to
working on the design, development, tooling and engineering of Glass
products that straddle the line between high-fashion, lifestyle and
innovative technology. "2015 will mark the commercial turning
point for the project," added the CEO of Luxottica, which
includes Ray-Ban and Oakley among its brand portfolio. Teams of
experts are already at work on the project in the US, China and Italy
to produce a first collection combining high-end technology with
avant-garde design.
